Watch the Locals

Here's my tip: Waitresses and others who work in the casino for a long time get to know where the loose machines are. When you see a local resident playing a machine it is most likely that his or her boyfriend, girlfriend, cousin, sister etc. works at that casino and knows what slot is looser than others. They tell their relatives and friends which machine to choose. Always watch the locals and jump on their machine when they are through. You will surely get a machine that pays better than most.
